LE - 300 Extreme Micro-Turbine
- Tower mounting kit, inverter / charge controller not included
The LE-300 Extreme Micro-turbine is a British made quality small direct drive micro-turbine designed for use in many difficult and demanding applications. Its aesthetic low profile design, coupled with its unparalleled low wind regime performance and low rotor acoustics make this turbine the ideal choice for challenging or harsh conditions. The LE-300 Extreme Micro-turbine features a fully integrated 3-phase Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) that takes advantage of Neodymium Iron Boron magnet technology. This configuration gives the PMG excellent low RPM characteristics with a very low cut-in speed allowing the turbine to spend more time generating power. The uniquely designed and manufactured turbine blades work in harmony with the PMG to allow the turbine to operate at low wind speeds, low RPM and with low acoustic emissions. Of equal importance, is the turbine’s ability to run at high output during 'big' winds for prolonged periods of time with out need for mechanical or electrical 'cut-outs'. This means that a LE-300 Extreme Micro-turbine will generate more kWhs in an average wind regime, compared to competitor products that are 'rated' at an unrealistic 12m/s (27mph). The LE-300 Extreme Micro-turbine has two modes of operation. The unit may be used to charge deep cycle battery banks at 12 or 24 Volts DC, which can later be converted to mains AC with use of an inverter or directly run low voltage lighting. Alternatively the LE-300 Extreme Micro-turbine is available with a battery-less grid tie inverter that will allow the turbine to be linked directly to an AC ring main without needing any battery storage. The power generated will offset power that you would normally pull off the grid. The LE-300 Extreme Micro-turbine can also work hand-in-hand with photovoltaic panels to ensure that power is being generated in all weather conditions. The LE-300 Extreme Micro-turbine will operate most efficiently when it is mounted high above obstructions in free flowing laminar airflow. LE-300 may also be roof mounted, but as with any roof mounted wind turbine, performance may suffer due to the inherent turbulence present at rooftop level. In optimum conditions, with an average wind speed of just 5 m/s (11mph), a single LE-300 Extreme Micro-turbine could generate as much as 40kWh per month of free and clean renewable energy, that represents a CO2 abatement of 18kgs per month. If just 1000 LE-300 Micro turbines were in service, a potential 216,000 kgs of CO2 emissions would be prevented from reaching our atmosphere in a single year. As worldwide energy prices continue to increase, the financial incentive to install a micro-generation system will become very significant!
